Odíhg Hiy̼jàkē (Hiy̼ /ʤəc/ [brothel] [pea]) is a subtropical Town located in Utshtewyùf County, Nùàgvan Provence, within the Dalandic Empire.

The name Odíhg Hiy̼jàkē is derived from the Tauric language, as Odíhg Hiy̼jàkē was founded by Had Ab Owain, who was culturaly Tauric.

Climate

Overview

Odíhg Hiy̼jàkē was founded durring the early 19th century in early fall of the year 1824, by Had Ab Owain. The establishment of Odíhg Hiy̼jàkē was plagued by a lack of willing colonists. After attempts to pay people to resettle failed Had Ab Owain struck deals with nearby nations and communities to establish Odíhg Hiy̼jàkē as a prison colony.

Odíhg Hiy̼jàkē was built using the conventions of Tauric durring the early 19th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Odíhg Hiy̼jàkē is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature masoned stone construction which prominantly features pointed arches, pointed ribbed vault cielings, flying buttress', and window tracery all of which share a simmilar gemoetetic patern halfway between organic and inorganic in design formaing a very distinct aesthetically integrated style. BUildings tend to reach for the havens, and more expencive homes are easily identified by their floor count as well as the addition of decorative features intigrated into the building's design such as statues, gargoyals, and embelished joinery.

Odíhg Hiy̼jàkē is buildings are arranged arround a single narrow cobblestone mainstreet with many smaller streets branching off of it which gives the town a over all rectangular shape, albit one warped and twisted by the nature of the curves of the main road. The town resides behind a palisade wall complete with battlments, a moat, and timber gatehouses with drawbridges. Odíhg Hiy̼jàkē's robustly designed timber walls has sufferd soem light damage, reducing its function a little in some spots, but could almsot certainly preform as expected... Though some of the worse spots could lead to the loss of defenders lives if attackers identified the weaknesses ahead of time.

Right off the bat Odíhg Hiy̼jàkē hits you in the face with its success. Everyone, even the peasants, are dressed in well made clothing. Every tool and implement you can see is finely made, and people will boast to you as obvious strangers of the wonders which can be found in their markets. More interestingly is a total lack of beggars, and plenty of new buildings are going up even as you speak. Somehow this town has come into quite a lot of wealth, and recently from the looks of things. It’s easy to see where their wealth comes from the more you look arround. Every aspect of the town has been developed with care and great thought. The people themselves act deliberately and with care in even the simplest of daily actions.

Civic Infrastructure

Odíhg Hiy̼jàkē has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Odíhg Hiy̼jàkē. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Odíhg Hiy̼jàkē's parks.

They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Odíhg Hiy̼jàkē's natural decorations nor waterways.

Cultural Notes

While Odíhg Hiy̼jàkē might ostensibly be ruled by some other power, real control lies with the senior members of the local craft and labor guilds. Their decisions have the practical weight of law, and much of their time and effort is spent squeezing out competitors and parceling out economic opportunities in the community. Some guilds might have little or nothing to do with their original trade, and now exist purely as shells for political influence.

Odíhg Hiy̼jàkē's chapel was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by their massive, monolithic and 'blocky' appearance with a rigid geometric style. It was best known for its rough, unfinished surfaces, unusual shapes, heavy-looking materials, straight lines, and small windows. Modular elements were often used to form masses representing specific functional zones, grouped into a unified whole.
